WOYWW 419

Yet again, books abound on my desk...

No space for art-making, but I am crafting... a sermon... something I haven't done for over a decade (**gulp**). I'm taking the traditional BCP Morning Prayer service at 9.30am on Sunday - my first 'official' work as a Reader, filling in for the regular vicar who's on holiday.

I'm battling my gremlins (can I really DO this?? what on earth do I have to say that's worth listening to??) But I know it's part of the process... And the process is something I trust :) It's a privilege, and an honour, to be entrusted with this work, and while I push through the feelings of inadequacy, THIS is the underlying, steady rhythm of my heart and soul...

Sharing with Julia here.

PS Yet again, I fear I may not have the time, or the energy, to visit many desks... I so enjoy, and appreciate, your comments, and hopefully next week will be less busy. Roll on July - almost nothing in the diary for that month - yay!

  2. I remember once being asked to take the assembly in school (when we did have religious assemblies) and the feelings of a dry mouth as i stood in front of the entire upper school. So I can relate to your being a little nervous but am sure you will be fine. Will be thinking of yhou.

  3. You are creating something special there out of words rather than paper or yarn. Good luck!

  6. You'll be fine I know it. Once you get yourself organised you'll really enjoy it. I used to do assemblies when I was teaching and although I always loved doing them, it was just the time to prep. it that I could have done without and of course it's natural to feel a bit nervous. Happy crafty woyww (if you get the chance!), Angela x16x

  7. Nerves are a good thing - they keep us alert, on our toes and means you'll make no mistakes at all. Good luck - not that I believe you'll need it, as I believe you will be FANTASTIC!
    Have a wonderful Wednesday!

  8. Having spent some years preaching the Gospel, I can understand how you feel. You just have to preach the Word - the rest is up to God.
Have a blessed week, full of lovely surprises.

  13. Many a year I've seen my Mum go through the same struggle early on a Sunday morning before a service (she's a lay preacher) before inspiration has struck and she's pulled an amazing sermon out of nowhere. You've got this!

  14. I wish you all the best with your sermon. This Sunday is rather an auspicious one for me as it is Father's day which coincides with the day my Dad died 19 years ago and also my friend's baby's dedication, they better not sing Amazing Grace as I'll be in floods of tears! Thanks for visiting me BJ#5

  15. You have my full admiration, I've always struggled with composing anything written - I'm more of a maths/numbers person.
    Have a super weekend,
