Solstice to Solstice

For some reason, I decided to look back on the life of this wee blog, and I realized the first post was written on the Summer Solstice, and here we are 6 months later... What a half-year it's been!

I've gone from being a lost, fretful Soul contemplating a Summer of Change (the reason the blog came into existence), when we had to move (but to where?), when hubby put in for early retirement (thankfully he didn't get it), and horror of horrors an empty nest (by September our home was childless).

And here I am now, about to enter the longest night of the year, full of hope and tentative plans for the New Year:D The kids are both safely home from uni, I have my Word for 2017, and I'm looking forward to the brightening days ahead...

The Solstice is when the sun stands still... we wait at the threshold holding our breath... looking back to the months that have passed, and looking forward to days before us...

While hubby and I cannot control exactly how long we can rent this house (that decision lies with the Church, our landlords), I've decided to live as if we're staying here for the next few years at least. We plan to enter village life even more fully - I'll join the W.I. formally in January, we'll become sponsors of the village magazine, I'll continue attending monthly book group, we'll support each and every village event as we are able.

We will commit to this place, investing our time and energy where its needed, and we'll cherish each and every moment. What a difference from 6 months ago, when all I could see were shifting sands, changing times, and no solid foothold. Now, we have a chance to put down roots, and become part of a busy, village community, what a wonderful blessing!

  1. What a wonderful post!!!

What a wonderful way, to be able to celebrate Yule and the Winter Solstice!!!

    Happy, happy, happy for you!

So lovely, as I came from a lady who is totally depressed, at her Christmas time. -sigh- Nothing I can do for her, because she sounds as if she is firmly entrenched in feeling sorry for herself.

So thank you so much, for giving me this lovely, happy, hopeful Post!!!!

    Yule Blessings!

    Happy Christmas Eve.

    Happy Christmas.

    Many gentle hugs,
    Luna Crone
