WOYWW 430

On my desk today, is my penultimate Authentic August journal spread - I'm terribly proud to have stuck at it for the whole month! And my wee journal is struggling to contain everything...
Today's word is a difficult one - ANGRY...
Words written on the back on the pretty, floral card, unedited...

A difficult word... There are so many angry people in the world, I'm not sure I want to be counted among them.
But injustices do make me angry - prejudice, misogyny, rascism...
The way we treat our fellow planet-dwellers by hunting them to extinction or by destroying their habitats.
The greed of the rich makes me angry - the ravaging of land or peoples for the sake of war or commerce makes my blood boil.
Anger stops me being complacent!!

And I would add 'complicit', as I consider myself to be among 'the rich', living as I do in the West. So I endeavour to be a mindful consumer and, as much as possible, only buy from Fairtrade or local vendors.
I'm curious to know any 'angry' thoughts... It's an interesting exercise to ponder what makes one angry 💬 🎆

  1. Well done on your perseverance with the daily August art journaling. Angry is certainly a challenging prompt. It makes me angry when people judge others from outward appearance without knowing anything about them! Happy WOYWW Sarah #13

  2. You done great with the word angry I could not have put it better myself Love your page... What makes me angry is people hurting each other because of different beliefs.. its so sad to see and hear of people being physically hurt just because they have different views...

  3. Morning Claire. Goodness - you have done SO well - only one more day. Can't quite believe August is almost over already. Angry - hmmm - you have done well to put it into words and pictures.
    Take care. God bless.

  4. Hi Claire, I think you have chosen to illustrate angry very well. Anger against injustice, greed, racism is what stops us being complacent, and therefore complicit in the problem. Anger is good when used to direct us to stand up for what is right, even if sometimes we are standing alone. Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #3 XxX

  5. Hi Claire, thanks for sharing your journal and yes anger is a tough emotion, isn't it? We (humans) don't do well with emotions that aren't as pleasant to deal with. It took me a while to understand the importance of feeling anger (and other undesirable emotions) within me. And I find it also has to do with the notion of things not being "fair" (in my perception) that triggers this emotion in me tremendously. Love seeing your authentic pages and prompts, and well done for sticking it with the whole month!
Have a wonderful week! Happy WOYWW xoxo Cheetarah #20

  6. The greed of the rich makes me angry too. I'd possibly use that for an easy theme if my prompt for the day was "Anger."
    Happy WOYWW!

  8. I've been enjoying your August creations. They leave a lot of food for thought.

This quote is from an excellent book called "The Dance of Anger":

"Anger is a signal, and one worth listening to. Our anger may be a message that we are being hurt, that our rights are being violated, that our needs or wants are not being adequately met, or simply that something is not right. Our anger may tell us that we are not addressing an important emotional issue in our lives, or that too much of our self -- our beliefs, values, desires, or ambitions -- is being compromised in a relationship. Our anger may be a signal that we are doing more and giving more than we can comfortably do or give. Or our anger may warn us that others are doing too much for us, at the expense of our own competence and growth."

  9. Anger blocks the way to Love, and love is all that matters in this world. I can be angry about things that are happening, perhaps even do something about it because of that anger, but it's still anger. I would much rather make things happen through love. Love your fellow man/woman/other, love our earth, love its creatures, good or bad, help in whatever way is possible for me. Anger is a difficult word indeed. Have a great week, thanks for sharing! 12. Hi Claire, anger is such a strong word, it scares me. There are a lot of injustices and this saddens and disappoints me. I don't want to be angry as there are enough angry people in the world already. Have a lovely, happy week. Heather #25
